On March 11, 2002, a leaked email by then President of the Ontario Progressive Conservative Campus Association (OPCCA), Adam Daifallah bragged to fellow Conservatives about funding the successful elections of card-carrying Campus Conservatives across Ontario:
Recently I reported the success that various OPCCA members were having in their bids to get elected to various student governments around the province. Now, there are even more victories to report. At the University of Waterloo, the team of Brenda Slomka (President), Ryan O’Connor Vice-President Education) and Mike Kerrigan (Vice-President Student Affairs) were all victorious in a stunning upset.
At Western, former Queen’s Park staffer Brook Dyson was elected VP Finance for the King’s College Student Council and Amanda Philip was elected VP Operations. At Windsor, Julia Campbell was elected VP University Affairs.
[...]
OPCCA was glad to help some of these candidates through our Millennium Leadership Fund, which helps defray costs for conservative university students in their bids for election. Thanks to OPCCA Leadership Director Christina Grech-Weed who oversees the program.”
Two years later, Queen’s University Conservative Club President Kasra Nejatian ran for President of the OPCCA. His election website (www.rightwing.ca/users/teamkasra) gave further evidence of the existence of the Millennium Leadership Fund. In his campaign platform, Nejatian declared the first priority of his self-proclaimed “ideological revolution” was to “Take Back Student Governments!” His platform promised to:
- “expand the Millennium Leadership Fund that provides financial support for conservative candidates in campus elections”
- “provide training for campus campaign managers and candidates”
- “increase cooperation between campuses during elections”
- “develop a committee to draft candidates at key campuses”, and
- “plan a coherent and concerted anti-CFS campaign”
