In the elections for the 2009-2010 elections of the Carleton University Student Association (CUSA), the campus Conservatives were successful in getting Nick Bergamini elected as CUSA’s Vice-President Student Issues. When Conservative plans to take-over campus student unions were revealed on WikiLeaks, Nick Bergamini was identified as a speaker at an upcoming Carleton workshop event. Bergamini later denied any knowledge of the event or the Conservative Party plans to infiltrate student unions, but screen captures taken of the Facebook Invitation for the OPCCA Workshop list Bergamini as a featured speaker. The event listing was later changed, but no one was fooled.

The NDP hacks currently in power at CUSA came up with that story and other associations, members of the CFS joined forces to say that Bergamini was trying to take over the association when the NDP has had it for years.
Bergamini had no intention of forcing his views but simply doing the job he would be elected to do, serve students and not himself unlike the current hacks.
The event changed because certain MPs could not attend, other than that nothing changed. And Nick was probably member of that meeting on the group, but lets be honest, who doesn’t click those things off to get it to stop showing in events on facebook?
What’s next, your going to say that I’m the boogieman who is trying to plague Carleton by writing and supporting people in student elections?
The main point that needs to be argued is whether they want to take over student associations? From what I have seen they have no intention because associations with conservative members have had unbiased campaigns for student issues, compared to the NDP councils that go onto any campaign whether it touches students. They also seem to love supporting higher tuition by supporting higher salaries for any labour union.
